Integrating Personal and Pro-Environmental Motives to Explain Italian Women’s Purchase of Sustainable Clothing

Despite increased knowledge of the impact clothing production on environment, general public still has a low intention to purchase sustainable clothing. The present study analyzed psychosocial predictors Italian women’s clothing, proposing an integration Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) and Value-Belief-Norm (VBN) approaches. Participants (N = 286) filled in self-report online questionnaire, measuring as well TPB variables, such subjective norm, attitude, perceived behavioral control, VBN egoistic biospheric values, awareness consequences, personal norm. Results structural equation modeling showed that + integrated model predicted Personal norm attitude were strongest intention.
